The mailbox app that puts your U.S. mail in your pocket
Get notified when a letter or package reaches your mailbox at 1215 Main Street in Tewksbury, then choose what happens to it: scan it, forward it, hold it for pickup or have it securely shredded. From anywhere in the world.
Already a customer? The app comes with every plan at no extra cost. It’s run by Neighborhood Parcel, our Tewksbury headquarters.

Everything our mail counter does, now on your phone
You can still call or email us to decide what happens to your mail. The app simply puts the same choices one tap away and writes every step down.
See what arrived
Each letter and package is logged the day it reaches your mailbox, showing who sent it, how it came and how long we’ll hold it.
Open and scan
We open the item, scan every page and email you the PDF, so an IRS letter reaches you wherever you are.
Forward it anywhere
Send one item or a whole stack to any address in the U.S. or abroad, and follow it from invoice to shipped with the tracking number on screen.
Hold it for pickup
Let us know you’re coming and we’ll set it aside at the counter. Bring a photo ID and you’re in and out.
Securely shred it
Junk mail and old statements are cross-cut shredded, but only after you confirm in writing in the app that you want them destroyed.
Share your mailbox
Give a spouse, assistant or business partner their own sign-in to the same mailbox. The history always shows who asked for what.
Handle several items at once
Select a handful of items and forward them in one parcel, or clear out a week of junk mail in a single step.
Change your mind
Requested a scan but want the original forwarded instead? Cancel or change any request until our staff carry it out.
A paper trail for every item
Received, scanned, forwarded, collected or shredded: every step is recorded with the date and the name of the person who handled it.
Know the moment your mail arrives
As soon as our staff log an item, you hear about it. No more wondering whether that check or package showed up, and no more calling to find out.
Phone notifications
Allow notifications once and your phone tells you about new mail, even when the app is closed.
One email per delivery
Three letters and a parcel arrive together? You get one email listing all four, not four separate emails.
An Alerts tab that keeps the list
Every update, newest first, with a count of anything new. It keeps working even if you turn email off.
Private on your lock screen
A notification says a letter or package arrived, never who sent it. The details stay behind your sign-in.
You’ll also hear from us when a scan is on its way, when a forwarding invoice is ready, when your parcel ships, and a week before an item’s free storage ends.

From our counter to your decision in four steps
Here’s what a normal day looks like once you’re set up.
-
It arrives
We log it the same day. It appears in your Mailbox tab along with how long we’ll hold it.
-
You choose
Open the item and tap what you want: scan, forward, pick up, archive or shred.
-
Add the details
Forwarding? Pick the items and the address. The app only shows services that can actually reach that country.
-
Follow along
Watch each request move from priced to paid to shipped, then track it with the carrier in one tap.
Setup takes about five minutes
There’s nothing to buy and no sign-up form in the app. Our team creates your app account when your mailbox is opened. Here’s exactly what happens.
-
Rent your mailbox (skip this if you already have one)
Choose a plan and apply online. USPS requires every private mailbox holder to complete Form 1583 and show two forms of ID. We guide you through it, and it usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. This step happens once, outside the app.
-
Look for your welcome email
Once your mailbox is open, you’ll get an email from mailbox@neighborhoodparcel.com with the subject “Set up your Neighborhood Parcel Mailbox account.”
- Not there after a few minutes? Check your spam or promotions folder.
- Add mailbox@neighborhoodparcel.com to your contacts so notifications always reach you.
- Already a customer and never received one? Email or call us and we’ll send it.
For your security, the link works once and expires after 60 minutes. If it runs out, ask us for a fresh one.
-
Tap “Choose your password”
The button in the email opens a page where you choose your password and type it a second time.
- At least 10 characters, with at least one number and one special character.
- A short phrase is easier to remember, such as quiet-harbor-2026.
- Tap Save and sign in, and you’re in.
-
Get the app on your phone
Download the free app from the App Store on an iPhone or Google Play on an Android phone — search for Neighborhood Parcel Mailbox. At a computer, use the same app in your web browser at app.neighborhoodparcel.com.
On a phone, open the link in Safari or Chrome, then choose Share → Add to Home Screen for an icon you can tap like any other app.
-
Sign in
Enter the email address we have on file and the password you chose, then tap Sign in. Your phone stays signed in until you sign out.
- Forgot your password? Tap “Forgot your password?” and we’ll email you a reset link.
- No access to that email? Visit the counter with a photo ID and we’ll get you back in.
-
Allow notifications
The first time you open the phone app, it asks to send notifications. Tap Allow so you hear about mail when the app is closed. Saying no changes nothing else: email and the Alerts tab keep working.
Built for other people’s mail
Your mail holds bank statements, tax letters and medical bills. The app works the way our counter does: only the right people see it, and every step is on record.
Encrypted in transit
Everything between your phone and our servers travels over HTTPS, and the database only accepts encrypted connections.
Your password stays yours
Passwords are stored with Argon2id, a modern one-way hash. No one on our staff can read yours.
Guessing gets nowhere
After repeated wrong passwords, the account pauses before accepting another attempt, for customers and staff alike.
Scans go to your inbox, not a screen
Scanned mail is emailed to you as a PDF and never displayed in the app. Our copy is deleted after 7 days.
Nothing sensitive on the lock screen
Notifications say something arrived, never who sent it, so a glance at your phone gives nothing away.
Everyone signs in as themselves
Shared mailboxes give each person their own login, and you can remove anyone’s access at any time.
One password change signs out other devices
Lost a phone? Change your password and every other signed-in device is signed out immediately.
Shredding needs your written OK
Before anything is destroyed, you read and accept the authorization in the app, and we keep the exact wording you agreed to.
A named person behind every step
Each staff member has their own account, so the record always shows who handled your item and when.
No ads, no tracking, nothing sold
The app has no advertising or analytics tracking built in, and your information is never sold or rented to anyone.
Clear rules, whether you live in Boston or Berlin
Many of our customers live overseas. The app follows the same U.S. and European privacy commitments as the rest of our business.
Mailbox and data-security rules
USPS Form 1583. Every mailbox is opened under Postal Service rules for commercial mail receiving agencies, with a completed Form 1583 and two IDs. The app never asks you to upload ID documents.
Massachusetts 201 CMR 17.00. A written information security program covers who can access your information, how it’s protected and what happens if something goes wrong.
State privacy rights. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws can ask to know, correct or delete their information.
Your GDPR rights in plain terms
Only what’s needed. Your name, contact details, mailbox number and the details of your mail. Enough to run your mailbox, and nothing for marketing.
Access, correction and deletion. Ask for a copy of your information, have it corrected or request account closure, in the app under Account or by email.
Where it lives. Your account is stored on secure servers in the United States. The privacy policy explains how international transfers are protected.
| What | How long it’s kept |
|---|---|
| Our copy of a scanned PDF | 7 days, so we can resend it if needed, then deleted |
| Exterior photos and item details in the app | 90 days after the item is finished, then removed |
| The record of what happened to an item (who, when, on whose instruction) | Up to two years for questions or disputes, then deleted |
| Your account details | For as long as you rent your mailbox |

Mailbox app questions we hear at the counter
Does the app cost anything?
No. The app is free and included with every GetMyUSMail mailbox plan. Services you choose in it, such as forwarding postage, are billed the same way as always.
Can I rent a mailbox inside the app?
Not yet. Opening a private mailbox requires USPS Form 1583 and two IDs, which we handle through our mailbox plans and application process. Once your mailbox is open, we send you the link to set up the app.
I already have a mailbox. How do I get in?
Email mailbox@neighborhoodparcel.com or call (978) 851-0199 and ask for your app invitation. We’ll send the setup email to the address on file, then follow the steps in Get started.
My setup link says it has expired.
Links last 60 minutes and work once, so an old email can’t be used by someone else. Reply to us or call and we’ll send a fresh one right away.
Why can’t I see my scans in the app?
That’s deliberate. A scan is the contents of your mail, so it goes to your own inbox as a PDF instead of sitting on a screen anyone could pick up. Can’t find the email? Ask us within 7 days and we’ll send it again.
How do I pay for forwarding?
After you request forwarding, we price it and send you a separate invoice. Nothing ships until it’s paid, and card details are never entered in the app.
What happens if I don’t choose anything?
We hold each item free for your plan’s storage period (30, 60 or 90 days) and remind you a week before it ends. After that, letters go back to the sender through the post office and packages are destroyed. A quick tap before the deadline avoids both.
Can I use it on my computer?
Yes. Go to app.neighborhoodparcel.com in any browser and sign in with the same email and password. Phone notifications need the phone app; email and the Alerts tab work everywhere.
I live outside the United States. Does it work for me?
Absolutely. The app works anywhere with an internet connection, and you can forward mail and packages to 190+ countries.
Who else can see my mail?
Only you, the people you give access to, and the staff who handle it. Add someone under Account → Manage who has access, and remove them at any time; their access ends immediately.
How do I close my account or ask you to delete my data?
In the app, go to Account → Request account closure, or email us. We’ll contact you about anything we’re still holding before closing it. Records are then kept only for the periods in the table above.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and Android. Download it free from the App Store or Google Play. At a computer, the browser version at app.neighborhoodparcel.com does everything the phone app does except phone notifications.
